The 2017 KCPE has emerged to be one of the best ever performed national exam in this republic. A total of candidates sat for the exam. Among them 49.8 were girls and 50.9 were girls. All the candidates are set to get their results as there were no any irregularities reported throughout the process. The accuracy was said to be at 99.98% by the knec chairman, George Magoha. Mr Matiangi congratulated the Kenyan teachers for their hardwork and honesty in handling the exam amidst political instabilities and uncertainties in the country together with heavy rainfall which saw some papers being flawn to the centres by use of choppers.

A police officer was also pictured walking barefooted across a river to deliver exam papers.Out of the to 100 candidates, 6 of them were special. 9846 pupils score above 400 and 2360 scored below 100 marks. Matiangi said all the top 100 candidates will join national schools and form one selection to start on December 4th.


A 14 year old from St. Anne Junior Academy in Lubau in Kakamega who have been living with albinism and health related issues beat all odds to become the best candidate in the country scoring 455 marks which was an improvement from last year’s 437 marks by the then top candidate.


In this years examinations six public schools appeared among top 100 schools in the country contrary to what has happened in the previous years. The second top candidate in the country was also from a public school.
